Fans called Missy’s showdown with Pastor Jeff the highlight of Young Sheldon

Young Sheldon, a spin-off prequel to The Big Bang Theory, follows Sheldon Cooper’s childhood in East Texas during the late 1980s and 1990s. The show premiered on September 25, 2017, on CBS and ran for seven seasons.
The final episode, Memoir, marked the end of the series with the death of Sheldon’s father, George Sr. The previous episode, Funeral, showed the family grappling with the sudden loss and preparing for the funeral.
In the episode, Pastor Jeff pays a visit to the Cooper residence, and viewers can see Missy trying to deal with her agony with rage. She bursts out at Sheldon for his lack of empathy for his father’s demise. When Pastor Jeff comments that it’s healthy for everyone to let their feelings out,
Missy replies, “Shut Up, Jeff!”
Young Sheldon fans on Reddit are calling this showdown the highlight of the entire series.
Throughout the seasons of Young Sheldon, Pastor Jeff has often been showcased on a slightly antagonistic note, as his involvement with the Cooper family had caused a rift between its members with the community. The worst harm that Pastor Jeff committed to the Coopers was when he banished the entire family from the congregation after Mandy got pregnant to Georgie’s child out of wedlock.
According to the fans, this became a satisfactory way for Missy to throw him a payback. Commenting on the Reddit post a user wrote,
“Exactly, it’s real life for a lot of religious people and groups. Even when Pastor Jeff acted the way he did after the pregnancy and how he acted about the video store, I didn’t think he was a bad person. He’s just a byproduct of a religious community structure that’s prevalent in the South. They care about people and their community, they just have warped views of morality.”
