It’s Only Been 7 Episodes, But We Might Already Know Why Georgie & Mandy’s Marriage Will Fail

As a prequel series to The Big Bang Theory (technically a direct sequel to Young Sheldon), doesn’t exactly point to a mystery about how the story ends. The suggestion that Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) won’t have a lasting marriage is even indicated right there in the show’s title. But for  it’s evident that the signs of the fractures in their wedded bliss are already starting to show early on in the nuptials.

While the show Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has the potential to last a very long time, fans know for certain that Georgie and Mandy’s relationship doesn’t last forever. When Georgie is talked about and even seen in the future in The Big Bang Theory, played by Jerry O’Connell, he has multiple kids, has been married and divorced multiple times, and is back to his non-committal, womanizing ways. It might seem surprising given how well he and Mandy appear to be doing on the show. But look closer and there are signs that

The Age Difference Looms Over Their Heads

The … has always been a big issue. It began with a lie, with Georgie not being open with Mandy about his real age. Once she found out, she was already pregnant with their child. She swiftly broke things off with him, but as he continued to show his maturity and care for her and the baby, and his family rallied around them, Mandy started to warm to him. They ended up falling in love and got married for the sake of the child, but also to give their relationship another try. It seemed to be working, especially when Georgie had to step up in more ways than one when his father, George Sr. (Lance Barber), passed away. But subtle reminders continue to plague the couple.

The whispered digs from Mandy’s mother Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones), for example, are a constant reminder of their massive age difference. She frequently brings up Georgie’s lack of life experience and age. She cracks jokes and implies that she doesn’t think the relationship will last. While it’s clear Mandy gets upset by these comments, sometimes it’s evident on her face that she recognizes her mother is right but doesn’t want to admit it. g Theory’ universe grew into spin-offs ‘Young Sheldon’ and ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,’ but very few characters are in all three.

The most crucial clue is when the couple has their first night out socially with friends. Mandy brings Georgie along to the home of and friend Beth (Casey Wilson), where they discover they don’t have much in common with Georgie. What’s worse is that Beth’s son comes home and realizes he went to high school with Georgie. While Georgie is a year older than him, he has more in common with Todd (Jackson Kelly) and ends up hanging out with him.

Further, he asks Mandy permission to do so, which sparks an argument about how she isn’t his mother. Despite not liking that dynamic, Mandy continues to treat Georgie like a child at times. She’s a dominating woman while he is easy-going and happy to oblige. The relationship ends up looking one-sided at times because of this. And instances like this one suggest that similar ones will come up again and again long before George reaches the age of which he can even legally buy alcohol.

Georgie’s Womanizing Ways

When fans first met Georgie in Young Sheldon, he was already showing early signs of being girl crazy. He went to great lengths to date and meet young women, even once pretending to be into religion to be with an attractive young woman in school. He used these same tactics to get Mandy in the first place, lying and deceiving to get her to like him. Episode 6 of George & Mandy’s First Marriage, titled “A Regular Samaritan,” touches on this personality trait, perhaps After responding to a tow call late at night, Georgie meets a young woman who invites him to her church where she promises getting closer to God will bring him great wealth and success. Naively, but also desperate to be able to provide for his family, Georgie obliges.

He appears to be completely oblivious to or at least uncaring of the fact that Valerie (Kelli Goss) is physically stunning, which is completely contrary to who Georgie is. He may have marriage and dad-colored glasses on, focused on being an adult and doing what’s right. But he’s not blind to beauty. That just isn’t who he is. And to suggest that having a wife and child changed him so dramatically, so quickly, at such a young age, is not believable.

It’s still early in the show’s run, but right now, the main cast of ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ feel like pale imitations of the Cooper family.

When Valerie tries to kiss Georgie, he pulls away and tells her angrily that he’s married. It’s a good move because right then, Mandy appeared at the doorway of the bible study class to join them and caught the moment. Later, when Georgie responds to another tow-call and realizes it’s yet another attractive young woman, he speeds off, refusing to deal with the temptation again.

These moments of encounters with beautiful women are small ones that point to the fact that Georgie may eventually break down and give in to this temptation, especially as his relationship with Mandy and her parents becomes more strained, and his obligations as a father and a provider amp up, Georgie may reach a breaking point. He may miss his old ways and want to go back to being a free spirit.

High Pressure at Such a Young Age

Finally, there are the overall pressures of getting married, raising a family, and providing for them that have fallen on Georgie at such a young age. He was 17 at the time Mandy got pregnant, still just a kid himself. There’s a lot he will miss out on in his youth and, eventually, he may be looking to sow those wild oats. It might not even pertain to other women, but just the freedom to go out with friends and do silly, irresponsible things. This naturally wouldn’t sit well with Mandy, who is already in her 30s. As her mother pointed out, she got to do all the things that Georgie won’t get to do.

Furthermore, Mandy’s career progression halted once she got pregnant, and she is already feeling the desire to fulfill her professional aspirations. If she tries to do this, balancing it all with her home life, Georgie may resent her, especially since he grew up in a much more traditional household. What’s more, the more she is exposed to people her own age, the more Mandy may realize that while Georgie is a good man, he’s at a very different place in his life.

The oldest Cooper child in ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ is a far better protagonist than his genius younger brother in ‘Young Sheldon.’

While he shows maturity in many ways, Georgie also demonstrates his immaturity as well. It’s easy to see how as CeCe gets older and needs less and less from them, the two may start drifting apart from one another as they pursue their own singular interests.

One thing fans don’t know, however, is  This may rely largely on how well the show does and how long producers want to draw out the story before the dissolution of the marriage. But it’s inevitable. It seems like all is happy at home right now, but the cracks are already starting to show. Viewers who look closely enough can see them forming, spreading, and ready to burst open at any moment.
