Young Sheldon Star Reunites With TV Mom, Making Fans Emotional

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has featured several special appearances from Young Sheldon stars, but Iain Armitage — Sheldon Cooper himself — has yet to join the show. However, the young actor still had the chance to reunite with his television mom seven months after the final episode of Young Sheldon aired.

On Instagram, Armitage shared a new image of himself alongside Zoe Perry, who plays Sheldon’s mother Mary in Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Bundled up to combat the cold that comes with the holiday season, the two are all smiles in the photo. Armitage also included a message in the post to reveal that the reunion took place at the White House, and while it was “incredible” to see the sights of the decorated building, the actor also appreciated how the trip gave him the “best excuse” to reunite with Perry.

“i think Zoe’s acting in the final episodes of Young Sheldon is so impressive and I was happy to get the chance to tell her this in person,” Armitage continued with a comment left on the post. “I’m grateful for any excuse that gets me together with my castmate family. Getting to tell them how much they mean to me is great and getting to do it in the festive shadow of the People’s House is even better!”

Fans have been flooding the comments, expressing how much they enjoy seeing the two actors together again. One fan said, “Seeing you both together makes me so happy!” Another noted of the duo, “The bestest mother son pairing on screen ever.” Another comment reads, “Young Sheldon is on repeat all the time in our house. Love you both mother and son.”

Will Iain Armitage and Zoe Perry Have an On-Screen Reunion?

It hasn’t happened yet, but the door is open for Armitage and Perry to also reunite on the small screen in character as Sheldon and Mary Cooper. Armitage has been open about his willingness to return as Sheldon if he’s called up on for a special appearance in the sequel series. While a return hasn’t been officially announced by CBS at this time, it does seem to be inevitable, given how Mary, Missy (Raegan Revord), and Meemaw (Annie Potts) have gotten to show up. Perhaps a Sheldon cameo is one that the team is savine for the season finale, but in any case, Armitage is ready to go.

“If I got a call to go back, that’d be so much fun. I’d be honored to,” Armitage previously told TVLine. “I’m also just excited to get to sit back on my couch with some popcorn and watch their show because they’re so good. But I could totally see myself getting in the khakis again, putting on the old penny loafers and bow tie, and going back out on the job.”
